Final Project Concept

While I was in New Mexico, I created a 3-page comic (above) that depicted my inner thoughts and feelings while I was in my last relationship, as I was going through it. For my final project, I want to create another comic also dealing with inner thoughts using abstract symbolism, but on a broader sense (not just a relationship theme) and obviously longer than 3 pages. I really enjoyed playing with the panels and multiple personas interacting with each other. I haven’t decided what theme to focus on, but it’ll have to be something that induces strong emotion to keep it entertaining and keep me passionate about the project.
My timeline would be conceptualizing the story, completing page-by-page thumbnails of the story, pencils, and finally inks. Usually the story and thumbnails take me the longest to do, because once I know what I’m doing and have a clear map, I can just jump in. The inking, however, took quite a bit of time for the 3-page comic, because it was so precise.
A goal of my art in general is to evoke a sense of beauty and disgust for the viewer and I will carry that into this class. For the purpose of comics, I would like to tell a story that people can generally follow, despite it being pretty abstract. With this final project, I want to compel people to look at themselves and how their mind works.
